Completed Oncology training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA, where he was an Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology.

Research interests include:
Gastro-Intestinal, Breast and Gynaecologic Oncology.

Member of the All Ireland Co-operative Oncology Research Group, co-Chairperson of the GI disease specific sub group.

Charitable involvement includes, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Cork ARC Cancer Support House.
