Profile

Professor Paul Redmond
BSc, M.Ch, FRCSI, FRCS
Surgeon | Preventative Health and Longevity Medicine
CEO, The Redmond Clinic

Professor Paul Redmond’s clinical focus is on preventative health, longevity
medicine, and skin cancer prevention and early detection. Having retired from
consultant practice in breast and endocrine surgery, Professor Redmond now
dedicates his expertise to reducing cancer risk through education, screening, and proactive intervention—particularly in relation to skin cancer.

Professor Redmond graduated with honours from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1983, having first completed a BSc in Anatomy with First Class Honours. He undertook his surgical training in Dublin and spent two years as a Surgical Oncology Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, where he developed a strong foundation in cancer biology and translational research.

On returning to Ireland in 1991, he established a surgical oncology research
laboratory at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, contributing significantly to cancer research and education. Following three years as a Senior Surgical Registrar, he was appointed Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Beaumont Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1995.

In 1997, Professor Redmond became Head of the Department of Surgery at Cork
University Hospital and University College Cork, a role he held until January 2026. Throughout his career, he was lead clinician in breast, melanoma, and endocrine disease, with melanoma care shaping his long-standing commitment to skin cancer awareness. He was Director of Cancer Services and was appointed chairperson of the National Cancer Forum, which led to the development of the first recognised cancer centres in Ireland. He is the author of several books and book chapters, and over 350 journal research publications.

Today, Professor Redmond’s work centres on preventative medicine, with a
particular emphasis on skin cancer risk reduction, early diagnosis, and public
education and he advocates for proactive health strategies designed to improve long-term outcomes and support healthy ageing and longevity.
