Dr. Stephen M. P. O’Riordan

Dr O’Riordan is a Paediatrician with a special interest in childhood Diabetes & childhood Endocrinology, with vast experience in these areas for more than 21years.

He trained in RCSI in Dublin and went on to spend 11years in Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght Hospitals , before dong his MD thesis in Trinity College Dublin in Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes with Professor Hilary Hoey.

He continued his post doc training at University College London, The Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street  Hospital for Chdilren in London for 4years. During this time he was an ESPE fellow and an NIHR research fellow.  He completed his post doc fellowship in Diabetes & Endocrinology under the mentorship of Professor Peter Hindmarsh and Professor Mehul Dattani.

He worked as a Consultant Paediatrician in Leicester Royal Infirmary, 2010-2011. He returned to Ireland to take up his current post in Cork University Hospital in 2011.

He has great experience in all forms of Paediatric Endocrinology and all forms of autoimmune disease: Thyroid disease, Addison’s and Coeliac disease.  - He is widely published in Paediatric Diabetes &  Adolescent Diabetes and Cystic Fibrosis related Diabetes (CFRD).
